2023 Trend Report: An Increase in Men Seeking Medical Spas

Now more thna ever men are noticing signs of aging and are commonly seeking treatment options at medical spas.

Did you know that Botox was the #2 most popular men's cosmetics request in 2022? (Natural growth factor injections was #1)

As the COVID-19 pandemic marched on in 2022 and many people continued to swap Zoom calls for in-person meetings, the medical spa industry saw a spike across the board for medical spa procedures. From Botox to fillers, micro needling to facials, aesthetic procedures is once again a priority among the male population.

And as we enter 2023, studies indicate significant growth among men seeking cosmetic procedures.

It turns out that the “Zoom Boom” is not a passing fad. As men see themselves on the screen, they are noticing signs of aging and seeking treatment options now more than ever. There is a rise in men seeking “BroTox” (Botox), a common treatment area for wrinkles between the eyes, known as the glabellar rhytids or the “elevens”. Treating crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles are close behind. Because men’s facial musculature tends to be stronger, they require more Botox units to treat these areas, sometimes up to 25 percent more units than women. It is important to remember that the use of preventative Botox can help prevent these muscles from getting so strong in the first place, thus eventually decreasing the number of Botox treatments needed and helping the treatment last longer.

Injectables like Voluma and Juvederm are also popular treatments for men since they can instantly restore lost volume in the cheeks and reduce the appearance of creases and fine lines. Injectables are minimally-invasive and typically only take a few minutes for lasting results, so they’re quick and convenient for even the busiest schedules.

Laser Hair Removal

While hair removal may not be as important for men as it is for women, many men still have hair in unwanted places. Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a laser to target the root of the hair, which permanently damages the hair follicle and prevents future growth. After a few sessions, men can say goodbye to that unwanted back, neck or chest hair. Defy Nature is proud to offer their Gentle Max system that is the most comfortable method of hair removal available.

Here at Defy Nature, we often hear our male patients say things like, “I don’t feel old, but I look old” or “people tell me I look tired”. This can certainly affect one’s self confidence.
