Fall is a perfect time to peel away your sun damaged skin

Sept blog article

Getting older is inevitable for all of us and the aging process can cause your skin to become rough, pigmented, dry and wrinkled. But no matter how old you are, stress, sun exposure and environmental changes can add to unwanted skin changes. There is one thing you can do to help tackle the problem. It won’t actually make you younger, but your skin can look more youthful and get back its glow.

The VIPeel® can make that happen. https://www.defynaturellc.com/services/vi-peel

What is the VI Peel®?

The VI Peel is a medical grade, medium-depth chemical peel that's administered by a licensed professional here at our medical spa in New London, CT. There are six different types of VI peels, each with its own benefits, but in general, these peels utilize a combination of TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, and phenol to exfoliate the top layers of the skin and reveal the smoother, brighter, and less damaged layers of skin underneath. Depending on the type of VI Peel we’ll recommend for you, the results can be amazing for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing acne and acne scarring, improving skin texture, and fading hyperpigmentation (like melasma or sun spots) caused by UV damage and inflammation.

The VI Peel® Difference

The VI Peel® is designed to be more effective than other peels. The skin peeling after the VI Peel® is moderate and usually starts 3-4 days after treatment. This leads to enhanced results compared to generic peels and facials. Some chemical peels are harsh on the skin and require several weeks of downtime. The VI Peel® is a non-invasive treatment and there is only peeling. Recovery time lasts only about two to three days with no downtime.

How long do the VI Peel® results last?

The results of a VI Peel can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Many of our patients purchase a series of three peels to see a more even skin tone and texture as well as reduced pore size and even less visible lines and wrinkles. Some patients with large amounts of skin damage may be able to undergo VI Peels® as often as every two weeks. For the average patient, it is safe to have the peel every four to six weeks. Depending on your skin needs and the specific treatment plan, most patients will undergo maintenance peels every few months to keep their results and prevent skin damage.

Ultimately, the longevity of your results will depend on how well you take off your skin post-treatment. That means cleansing, moisturizing, and wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 or more every day. Lifestyle factors—like smoking, excessive drinking and sugar consumption, and lack of sleep—will also impact your results, so the better you are to your body, the better your VI Peel results will be.
