Surgical Facelift or Non Surgical Facelift. Which is right for you?

Every face tells a story – but for many men and women, unwanted lines and wrinkles are a common concern that they would rather not share with the world.

Today, there are many options to help transform their stories, by maintaining their youthful appearance and help regain their self confidence. Two of the most common anti-aging solutions are surgical facelifts and non-surgical cosmetic procedures offered at Defy Nature in New London. While both can have a significant impact, there are key differences between the two.

Which is best for you? Let's take a look.

What exactly is a surgical facelift?

A facelift is an invasive surgical procedure typically performed by a board certified plastic surgeon in a hospital or outpatient surgery center, which may include removing excess skin, tightening skin and lifting facial muscles or tissue. Sagging skin and deep wrinkles are among the issues that a facelift can address.

Facelift benefits

A facelift can provide more significant and visible results than injectable treatments.

Because it's a surgical procedure, results last far longer than other treatments – often for 10 years or more. Facelifts can treat more severe aging issues that injections or heat devices cannot. Older patients (55 and over) are more commonly treated for facelifts while filler and Botox are requested more often by the younger demographics. https://www.defynaturellc.com/blog/at-what-age-should-you-start-botox-what-is-preventative-botox

Facelift downsides

Most facelifts surgeries require the patient to undergo general anesthesia, which carries additional risk.

As with any surgical procedure, recovery time is longer than a non-invasive treatment and is generally two weeks or more. Surgical procedures typically involve more downtime than non-surgical procedures because stitches are involved. Non-surgical procedures do not require any downtime or recovery. Swelling and bruising will be more prominent with a facelift versus an injection, although bruising can occur with any procedure.

Non-surgical facelift options are on the rise.

While Botox and Fillers like Juvederm are great at temporarily reducing facial wrinkles, combating skin laxity and sagginess is even more crucial in achieving that youthful appearance.

The aesthetics industry is growing exponentially and there are many new non surgical energy device options released on the market every day. It’s important to choose a device that is reputable backed by clinical based research and done by a practitioner that is experienced who can deliver safe and optimal results. Look no further than Defy Nature.

Everything is user-dependent and in the right hands you can get fantastic results. At Defy Nature, they offer an energy-based treatment for skin tightening and lifting called Genius RF Micro-Needling; a new, clinically proven, non-invasive approach to rebuilding collagen for lifting the eyebrow, sub mental tissue and neck and for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

So who would be the perfect patient for Genius RF? They are typically in their 30s or older, concerned by the signs of mild to moderate skin aging but are not satisfied with injectable treatments and do not want a surgical facelift. The potential patient should have some degree of fine lines and wrinkles or laxity (loss of elasticity.) Patients who have been treated with Injectables such as dermal fillers, collagen stimulators or anti-wrinkles treatment (Botox) in the past are now looking for something more long term that stimulates their natural collagen and elastin to help lift and tighten the skin without surgery.
